The inauguration of the laboratory

Politehnica University of Timisoara proudly celebrates the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Neuromarketing Laboratory, developed through the IPA Romania-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. What was once an ambitious idea has now become a dream come true. 

With cutting-edge equipment – eye tracking systems, EEG devices, biometric sensors, and specialized consumer behavior analysis softwear – the lab offers unique opportunities to study how emotions, attention and decision-making processes shape consumer choices.

Through this intiative, Politehnica University of Timisoara strengthens its role as a regional hub for innovation and knowledge transfer, while promoting collaboration and sustainable development across borders.

First Pilot Test Using the EEG Headset Acquired Through the IPA Romania–Serbia Project

The research team conducted the first pilot test using the newly acquired EEG headset, purchased with the support of the IPA Romania–Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Project.

This marks an important step in advancing our capacity to measure and analyze brain activity during experimental tasks.

The pilot aimed to verify the system’s functionality and data quality, setting the foundation for future experiments that will contribute to innovative research in cognitive and behavioral sciences.

 

Celebrating the Successful Completion of the DIGITAL U2 Project

We are proud to mark the successful completion of DIGITAL U2 – Design yoUr fUture in Challenging Times, a European cross-border initiative implemented by Politehnica University of Timișoara, in partnership with Nikola Tesla School Centre (Vršac, Serbia) and Ion I.C. Brătianu Technical High School (Timișoara, Romania), under the Interreg IPA Romania–Serbia Programme, co-funded by the European Union. Over the course of 18 months, DIGITAL U2 evolved into far more than an educational project. It became a vibrant cross-border community that connected educators, researchers, and 160 students from Romania and Serbia through shared learning experiences, scientific exploration, and intercultural collaboration. One of the project’s most remarkable achievements was bringing advanced neuroscience and behavioral research technologies closer to schools and local communities. Through hands-on activities involving Eye Tracking, Electroencephalography (EEG), and Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), participants gained direct exposure to innovative methods used internationally to investigate attention, learning processes, decision-making, and human behavior. Beyond technological innovation, DIGITAL U2 generated a lasting academic and societal impact. Teachers engaged in scientific research, explored evidence-based educational practices, and strengthened international professional networks. Several educators authored and presented scientific papers at the project’s international conference, demonstrating how collaboration between schools and universities can contribute to the advancement of educational research. For students, the project provided a unique opportunity to develop digital, entrepreneurial, and socio-emotional competencies, collaborate in multicultural teams, and build meaningful friendships beyond national borders. Many participants discovered new educational and career opportunities, while gaining greater confidence in their ability to shape their own future in an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven world. DIGITAL U2 demonstrated that European investments in education, innovation, and cross-border cooperation can create tangible and sustainable change. By fostering trust, reducing cultural barriers, encouraging scientific curiosity, and strengthening connections between communities, the project contributed to building a more resilient and future-oriented Romania–Serbia border region. Although the project has officially concluded, its legacy continues through educational outreach activities, neuromarketing and neuroscience events, collaborative research initiatives, and future European projects designed to empower young people, educators, and local communities. We extend our sincere gratitude to all students, teachers, researchers, institutional partners, and stakeholders whose dedication and enthusiasm made this project possible. Together, we have demonstrated that education, science, and international cooperation remain powerful drivers of positive change
